Celebrate St. Patrick's Day by Earning More Green: Click to Get Hired: Three Secrets to an Online Job Search can show you four things you can be doing now

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with earning more green--Click to Get Hired: Three Secrets to an Online Job Search can show you four things you can be doing now.

This St. Patrick's Day you can enjoy your pint of Guinness or attempt a bite of Haggis if you dare, but wouldn't you really like to have more money at your disposal to buy those pints of joy, those dinners out--even more to help pay the bills on time and save something extra for the vacation you've been daydreaming about?

This is especially true if you are currently looking for work or want to change jobs. You might be one of the 4.8 million unemployed Americans who've been looking for work for at least 27 weeks (according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics February Jobs Report.) What's keeping you today from that well-paying job?

One of the issues we keep hearing at www.clicktogethired.com from those looking for work is the difficulty in knowing who to send you resume to at a company and when you  get a call to interview, how do you find information about your interviewer so you can better prepare?

When my kids and I toured the US. Bureau of Engraving in Fort Worth, TX (where they print paper money for most  of the country) last year, they were most astonished by the security measures they put in place to ensure no engraving plates ever left the facility. There are only a handful of engravers qualified to design the plates that will print anything from one to five-hundred dollar bills and they even checked to make sure you left your cell phone in the car so no images of the money or the process would leak out. The frustrating thing is many companies treat their HR departments and hiring mangers like the Bureau of Engraving facility and lock down any information about contacts and interviewers.

Here's what  you can do to unlock this info and be better prepared for your interview:

  1. Use a business search service like Hoovers to find the company. They will usually list the company officers and the HR director or VP is often among these listings.
  2.  Use LinkedIn to search for the HR contact--even though they are not a connection you  can obtain details like company position, location, etc.
  3. Use a general search engine like Google to search for the company and HR contact--use the following format: company name contact name to perform a search for the company AND the contact. You can also try: "email" contact name to search for the contact's email address.
  4. Use Twitter Search to search for the company and/or contact name. You can gain much valuable information from the Twitter feed.
From these searches you can usually learn contact names, their position, email addresses, what their currently working on, how long they've been with the company, etc.

All of this better prepares you to walk into your interview confident and able to control have more control over the conversation and ask better questions.

Which can lead to a job offer--and the more green for your Guinness and ideal vacation.
